Join Our Team: Welder

Job Title: Welder/ Problem Solver

Pay Range: $27-32/hr

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Company: Black Arrow Machine & Welding Inc.

How can we help? At Black Arrow Mfg we build solutions to solve our clients' most complex industrial challenges. We are an agile, nimble, and expanding team providing custom, short-run design-build and contract manufacturing solutions. We handle everything from simple repairs to projects too complex for standard small shops.

The Role: We are seeking an experienced, practical Welder who can thrive independently within a manufacturing workflow. In this role, you will be a key part of our end-to-end manufacturing process, integrated with our design, machining, and assembly teams and cross-trained to jump on whatever equipment is needed to deliver results to the customer: manual lathe, manual mill, radial arm drill, and occasionally water-jet cutter, press brake, shear, sheet metal rollers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Custom Manufacturing: Independently, and in collaboration with other skilled makers, you’ll execute custom design-build projects and permanent installations.
  • Quoting & Job Planning: Contributing to the quoting process using problem-solving skills to make parts more efficiently and use equipment more effectively.
  • Prototype Development: Creating prototypes and mock-ups to find the most cost-effective and fast solutions for client problems.
  • Technical Excellence: Maintaining high standards of craftsmanship to ensure every job meets our "trusted" quality standard.

What We Offer:

  • Tight Team Support: Our small team has a diverse skillset that complements each other's strengths and weaknesses. There is always opportunities to learn, teach, and support on another. If you don’t know, we’ll figure it out together!
  • Agile Scheduling (Flextime): We offer flexible start and end times between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM to accommodate your life outside the shop.
  • Robust Benefits: Includes Life, Disability, Health, and Dental insurance (after 6 months).
  • Work Attire: $250 annual allowance for footwear and workwear.
  • Retirement Savings: A 3% employer-matched retirement plan after 6 months.
  • Commuter Support: Full reimbursement for monthly transit passes or an annual $250 cash "Pedal Power" bonus for bicycle commuters.
  • Holiday package with both paid stats and vacation pay.

What We’re Looking For:

  • The "Problem Solver" Mindset: You are practical and capable of figuring out the "how" on complex, non-repetitive jobs.
  • Initiative: You are always thinking ahead for what should be done next, not needing to wait for instructions (but you are a team player, not a lone wolf). You are happy learning and jumping into different roles if needed and aren’t above picking up a broom.
  • Master of Your Craft: You are technically versatile with experience on stick, MIG, TIG, welding various metals including aluminium, mild and alloy steel.
  • Reliability: A commitment to safety, equipment care, and accurate daily documentation of job hours and materials.

Join the Team: We are looking for practical expertise to help us expand our reputation as a trusted leader in fabrication. If you want your professional world to be one of purpose and progress, we want to hear from you.
